8-channel stereo morphing granular sampler

  • Stereo Morphing Granular Sampler
  • 8 simultaneously usable sounds (parts)
  • One stereo sample (16 bit / 48 kHz, max. 32 s) can be played from microSD card per sound
  • The input signal can be processed or the output signal re-sampled
  • Two parameter sets (scene A and B) are available for each sound, which can be faded between using faders and CVs
  • Pitch quantiser per sound
  • 10 controls for direct access to: Start, Warp, Scan, Grain-Shape, Blur (Reverb), Level, Rate, Size, Pitch and Tone
  • Memory locations for 48 projects with 48 presets each
  • 3 assignable CV inputs and internal random generator for modulation
  • Sync input
  • Next, Gate and Select CV inputs for selecting and switching sounds
  • Morph CV input with bipolar attenuator
  • 2 freely assignable CV outputs

Multigrain is an eight-channel stereo morphing granular sampler. Layer grains and sequence from the eight available Sounds—each one loaded from your microSD sample library, or recorded directly on the module. Each of the eight Sound Buttons plays grains generated from its own sample, and its own pair of Scenes—two completely different sets of granular parameters; a dedicated Morphing Fader and CV allow you to smoothly morph between these two Scenes. Dedicated Select, Next and Gate CV inputs allow you to sequence the playback of all eight Sounds.

Assignable X/Y/Z CV as well as an internal Random S&H generator, can be applied to any and all granular parameters at once. Assignable MOD A/B Outputs let you modulate other modules in time with Multigrain.

Projects and Presets allow you to save, load, and organize different sets of samples and settings. 48kHz 24-bit Stereo I/O and 32-bit floating point internal processing for Hi-Fi output.

Features

  • Eight Sounds available at once — Each Sound can be freely assigned from the MicroSD card or by sampling directly into the module.
  • Latch your sound for drones or use unlatched for percussive bursts of sound
  • Morph Sounds between two Scenes — Two individual sets of parameters for each Sound
  • 13 Dedicated Granular Parameters — 10 Per-Knob Functions, 3 Behaviour Toggles
  • Built-in Per-Sound Pitch Quantizer
  • Clock Sync toggle and Input
  • Blur (HiFi Reverb) — Process your grains and L/R Inputs through a unique reverb
  • Sample directly on the module—
    • Sample the L/R Inputs directly or…
    • Resample (internally) the L/R Outputs to reprocess your new sounds
    • Optional Normalize feature for maximum dynamic range
    • 32 Second Always-Listening recording buffer — Capture the sounds you thought you missed
    • Advanced Sample Trimming UI built into the module
  • Use dedicated Next, Select and Gate CV to surf or sequence through Sounds
  • Four Assignable Channels of Modulation
    • 3 Assignable CV inputs

Automation / Modulation

The granular engine has a full set of controls to shape your grains. You can apply two panel settings per Sound—Scenes A and B—then morph between them using the Morph fader or automate it with the dedicated Morph CV/Attenuverter.

Multigrain loves modulation. It has three assignable CV inputs, which can be applied to the granular engine’s parameters. You can also apply internally generated random modulation and sync Multigrain to your system clock.

Dedicated Next, Gate, Select CV inputs allow you to sequence or surf through sounds, layering and mixing them on top of each other.

Ready for the Stage

Multigrain supports up to 48 Projects, each with 48 Presets, so you can store multiple configurations and sample sets for instant recall. This also frees you up to explore new sound palettes, while still being able to return to your favourites.

Bend any Sound into your own creation

Sample your own sources (or others) directly into the module for instant gratification, or load a copy of your WAV files to the SD card with a computer, and explore the sounds like you’ve never heard them before.

Intellijel has partnered with some amazing artists to provide you with exclusive samples for use with Multigrain—

  • Richard Devine (Warp/Schematic)
  • Speedy J (Warp/STOOR)
  • Taylor Deupree (12k/Nettwerk)
  • Jeremy Blake (Red Means Recording)

You’ll find these Projects on the 32GB SD card included with the module, as well as more sounds and samples from our staff here at intellijel; over 600MB of included samples.
