Barefoot Footprint 02 are 3-way studio monitors designed to deliver high-quality, accurate sound.
The smallest in the Barefoot range, they are designed to be compact but at the same time provide detailed and accurate sound, making them suitable for use in recording studios, music production studios and other professional audio applications.
In fact, the FP-02s are derived from the Footprint 01, a monitor identical in technology and features but larger in size and power, which when released was and still is a success.
These monitors are known for their Dual-Force loudspeakertechnology , which integrates two 6.5-inch woofers placed oppositely on the sides of the cabinet, so as to increase the extension on low frequencies and completely eliminate cabinet vibrations, in order to increase precision and firmness on low frequencies while reducing distortion.
Inside we find two class-D amplifiers, one 150W for high frequencies and one 200W for low frequencies.
Up front we find a 4-inch aluminum mid-range cone and a 1-inch dual-ring tweeter set in an aluminum front panel; sleek, rounded corners and edges to minimize cabinet diffraction.
This design aims to provide a wide and uniform frequency response, allowing users to hear every detail of their music or audio production.
In addition, Barefoot Footprint 02s also include Multi-Emphasis Monitor Emulationtechnology , also referred to as MEME, which allows users to emulate different features of famous studio monitors, providing greater flexibility in sound. For example, classic Cube for midrange focus, Hi-Fi, Flat or Old that emulates Yamaha NS10s.
The Barefoot Footprint 02 although super compact in size, just look at the Kali Audio with which we compared them, have alow frequency extension that is nothing short of scary. This allows use without the need for an additional dedicated subwoofer. Dual Force technology helps so much, and the bass, in addition to being present, is super firm and precise.
The frequency response is Flat, allowing you to work beautifully in the midrange and enjoy the precise and detailed high frequencies.
Although on paper the frequency response is Flat, I personally feel a slight boost on 1000-2000 Hz which on the one hand can be useful for mixing voices which come out of the mix well, on the other hand, however, in the long run they tire me out a bit leading me to take more breaks during a mixing session.
It could be given by the materials used for the cones or it is simply a feature of the Barefoot or, even more simply, it is a super personal feeling and therefore to be taken with pliers.
