The monologue is a fully programmable and unique-sounding monophonic analog synthesizer equipped with a 25-key keyboard that shares the minilogue's sleek design and structured layout with a potentiometer for each parameter.

New generation of monophonic analog synthesizer available in 5 vibrant colors

Intuitively programmable analog synthesis in detail; monologue represents a new generation of monophonic synthesizer that combines the spirit of the acclaimed minilogue with powerful new features resulting from a redesigned circuit.

The monologue is a fully programmable and unique-sounding monophonic analog synthesizer equipped with a 25-key keyboard, sharing the minilogue's sleek design and structured layout with a potentiometer for each parameter. Korg monologue is a truly distinctive synthesizer designed to please all kinds of musicians, thanks to its revamped voicing system and detailed possibilities for intervening on the generated waveform.

Monologue with its new filter, modulations, drive and LFO can generate deep basses and sharp leads, monophonic sounds that will showcase the versatility and power of its newly developed single-voice engine with a sonic texture that will have nothing to envy of the most modern synths.

The step sequencer has also been enhanced, introducing more intuitive yet more detailed editing. The monologue team consists of 5 different colors to please not only the ears, but also the eyes of the most aesthetically conscious musicians who will be able to choose the color that suits them best.

Redesigned monologue analog circuitry

The monologue is based on the same analog monophonic circuitry adopted in the minilogue, but this does not mean that the monologue is a trivial subordinate monophonic version of its bigger brother, quite the contrary... From the very first note emitted, monologue makes its power felt with a bang that is the result of the redesigned envelope section coupled with a renewed modulation routing and a filter that respects and emphasizes the lower frequencies.

The structure is far from complex, as it consists of 2VCO, 1VCF, 1EG, 1 VCA and 1LFO. In addition to what is already available in the minilogue, so parameters and functions such as wave shaping for oscillator harmonic variation and sync/ring switch, the filter section exploits a two-pole filter to give more body to the low end.

New is the Drive circuit that introduces harmonic distortion capable of giving more power to the bass and making leads more penetrating. The LFO can be set at a considerably higher speed than usual, this helps generate extremely distinctive sounds, or set in one-shot mode to operate as a kind of additional envelope. The keyboard mounts slim keys already known from being used in the minilogue and MS-20mini.

To suit any musician, the keyboard extension covers 2 octaves from E to E, like a guitar or bass.

Fully programmable

Monologue goes beyond classic analog synths in the same price range and provides as many as 100 program memories. Select one of the programs and start your sound experience right away. From the most punchy bass to the most enveloping subs, from bright, punchy leads to percussive sequences.

All without necessarily having to be a connoisseur of sound synthesis: choose a program and intervene on the parameters, a workflow familiar to all modern-day musicians. Of the 100 Programs with which the monologue is equipped, 80 are presets of sounds and sequences programmed by creative artists from all over the world among whomAphex Twin stands out, while the remaining 20 are available to save sounds and their respective sequences that you will go on to generate yourself.

What's more, through the soon-to-be-released Sound Librarian software you can organize all the Program.

16-Step Sequencer for Evolving Sequences

The monologue step sequencer has been significantly enhanced to provide more musicality and handle more complex rhythms, yet easier to record, view and edit.

It supports both real-time recording with an overdub function and step recording through which you can program the sequence by pressing the notes that will make it up in succession, as well as direct manual programming on the 16 step buttons that can also be done in real time to give your live performances an extra edge.

The motion sequence function allows you to record the movements of 4 potentiometers, that is, the automations of their respective parameters either continuously, as in previous models, or in the new step mode, which will allow you to create different sounds for each step giving rise to real rhythmic patterns based on a single Program.

With the Key Trigger function you can play the sequence while holding down a note and transpose it by pressing other notes on the keyboard in succession. Another new feature is the slide feature that is very useful for bass sequences since it allows you to specify the portamento for each individual step.

Microtuning: create your own scales with complete freedom

Music has long been restricted to tempered system scales, and even now few instruments support microtuning. monologue has a set of pre-set scales and as many as 12 user memories, all compatible with 3Byte Standard MIDI Tuning messages.

The power of microtune music can be appreciated in the productions of Aphex Twin, who was part of the monologue production team and provided some of the preset scales, sounds and sequences. All users should experiment not only by using the scales programmed by Aphex Twin, but by creating their own in absolute freedom by going on a discovery of the various frequency ranges.

With the Oscilloscope you have an eye on the sound and sequence

The OLED display shows you the waveform in real time, as it was sculpted by you. The visual feedback, a Korg first for hardware synthesizers, has not only a mere aesthetic and entertainment function, but shows you how the sound behaves thus also created educaitonal. Monologue also shows the values of the automations of the 4 Motion Sequence parameters on the display.

The battery-powered analog

The styling, aluminum dashboard, and wood in the rear section of the instrument are a clear and direct reference to the minilogue, but the whole thing has been optimized to harness the power of a monologue instrument. Despite the use of sturdy materials, monologue is compact and weighs only 1.7KG for an unprecedented combination of portability and durability. Plus, another plus point in its favor in direct comparison with other analogs in its price range, monologue can run on batteries.

Sync it with Audio Sync

In addition to DIN 5-pin MIDI In and Out connections and USB MIDI, monologue offers Audio Sync connectivity, for synchronization with other KORG instruments from the volca, electribe, and minilogue series and with SQ-1. You can connect monologue to your DAW software and use it as a USB MIDI controller and/or synthesizer. Receive the MIDI clock via USB and distribute it via Audio Sync to sync other instruments with analog sync.
