Aphex Twin aveva già dato un importante contributo per lo sviluppo della versione 2.5 della Bass Station II ed in particolare per l'implementazione del microtuning editing, tramite il quale la frequenza triggerata da ogni singola pressione del tasto può essere completamente controllata, dando alle scale un'altra dimensione. AFX Station ha due filtri, due oscillatori con un terzo sub-oscillatore in appoggio, la possibilità di salvare le patch e una sezione effetti completamente analogica. Aggiungete a tutto questo uno step sequencer, un arpeggiatore, una tastiera con tasti full size e una potente sezione di modulazioni ed avrete la panoramica completa delle caratteristiche di questo synth assolutamente straordinario. Insieme a 128 nuove patch realizzate da sound designer del calibro di Richard Devine, la modalità AFX integrata permette di richiamare suoni di batteria o sound effect tipicamente analogici nello stile di Richard D. James, AFX Station il compagno di tour di ogni dj o producer.
