The Z4000 is a classic among the modular envelopes. – No wonder, as the module comes equipped with some clever features. For instance, the attack, decay, sustain and release phases can not only be adjusted manually, but voltage-controlled as well. The potentiometers of all time values are scaled in a special way: On the first 50% of their control range, only changes in the millisecond range happen. Thus, you can sculpt short, percussive sounds very precisely. Starting at the 12 o’clock position, values ranging from one second to one minute are available. The ATK switch can be used to select either an exponential or logarithmic attack curve.
A bipolar attenuator allows you to scale and / or invert CV signals generated by the envelope. The Deviater can be used to add a positive or negative offset. A bi-color LED indicates whether the envelope emits signals in the positive or negative voltage range. The Z4000 is controlled via gate and re-trigger inputs. In addition, a button for manual excitation was implemented.
