Analog mixer for live performance.
An analog mixer to complete your Volca setup.
Volca mix is the long-awaited mixer for the volca series. The Volca mix is a 3-channel (2 mono, 1 stereo) analog mixer designed to combine multiple Volca series synthesizers in live performance. Three faders for volume control, low-pass/high-pass filter, and a bus master allow you to drastically change the sound generated by your Volca series synths. In addition to the analog sync function already familiar to Volca series users, you will find 3 outputs (DC) for direct powering as many instruments in the series. So many functions to facilitate and enrich your performances, all encased in an aluminum-paneled chassis.
The Volca Mix will allow you to express yourself at your best with Volca series instruments.
An analog mixer designed for performance
Thevolca mix is a three-channel mixer with an intuitive user interface, small but with extensive connectivity. The first two channels have a mono input, while the third is stereo. The connectors are in mini-jack format to allow you to connect directly from the headphone output of your Volcas to the inputs of the Volca Mix. For volume control (with additional 6 dB gain), then for mixing the signal played by the Volcas connected to the inputs, each channel is equipped with a vertical fader. Each channel is also equipped with a "Mute" button and a low-pass/high-pass filter controllable by a single potentiometer: low-pass by turning it to the left, high-pass to the right. A natural-sounding filter that allows you to intervene in the sonic character of connected sources.
Master and headphone outputs for on-stage use and built-in stereo speakers for maximum portability
The output section includes a stereo line output on RCA connectors and a mini-jack format headphone output with volume controllable by a single potentiometer. The master signal can be visually monitored by a 4-LED stereo VU Meter. Two speakers, located in the lower corners on the dashboard, allow direct stereo listening to enable you to work on the go; despite their extremely small size, compared to those built into Volca series synths these are capable of greater sound power. A special switch allows us to turn them off when needed.
A powerful master channel
On the master channel of the volca mix we have a powerful effects section based entirely on analog circuitry. In addition to an expander (controllable by the Width potentiometer), which expands the image of mono sources into the stereo range, in the Volca Mix we find a dynamics compressor which, behaving like the classic ducking effect applicable via side chain, acts by compressing the high frequencies in relation to level changes in the bass range. This is an indispensable effect in electronic dance music production, allowing you to vary your mixing in an important way, giving an extra professional touch to your live performances with the Volca series.
Connect an external effects processor
The Volca mix has a Send (monaural) output and an Aux input on stereo mini-jack (TRS) connectors. Thanks to the Send potentiometers on the three channels you can send toward the input of an external multi-effects processor connected to the Send output the signal of the sources connected to the Volca Mix. For example, using it together with the Korg mini kaoss pad 2S you can take advantage of reverb, delay, filter, and break effects. If needed, the Aux input can be used to connect a possible fourth Volca, or a smartphone-to integrate iOS music apps into your set-up-or any other line source.
Use it as Master Sync in your Volca set-up.
The Volca mix offers an analog BPM speed sync section consisting of a mini-jack Sync output that transmits to other Volcas sync pulses depending on the settings applied via the Tempo potentiometer. A Play button handles the startup, i.e., remote playback of the various synchronized units.
DC outputs to simultaneously power 3 Volcas.
The three "Volca DC" outputs in the Volca Mix allow you to power as many instruments in the series that can be connected using the special "DC-DC" cables included in the package; you won't have to resort to using numerous adapters or equip yourself with power strips.
Along with the Volca mix comes the power adapter (AC), three DC-DC cables, and three audio cables. As soon as it is unpacked, the Volca Mix will immediately become part of your set-up.
