Korg drumlogue represents a paradigm shift in the world of drum machines, thanks to its triple hybrid engine: the power of rich analog sound, the flexibility of digital parts, and the SDK for complete customization of the synthesis section. All in a sturdy, compact product (317x189x73mm; 1.4KG) made of brushed-finish aluminum with wooden side panels. The sloping dashboard is specially designed for better ergonomics and excellent accessibility and visibility of parameters reinforced by an OLED display that allows visual tracking of sequence content and respective editing.

Equipped with a dynamic sequencer, editable effects and intuitive controls, drumlogue is a must-have for studio music production and live performances, for any genre or style of music.

drumlogue is simple to use

drumlogue is not only powerful, it is extremely easy to use. Organized with simplicity and accessibility in mind, the most important parameters for the main drum parts all have dedicated knobs on the front panel that can be adjusted on the fly, as well as dedicated volume pots for each part that will speed up the mixing process. Its large and clear OLED screen, combined with its simple user interface with 4 dedicated encoder knobs, makes the navigation process fast and smooth.

The analog power of drumlogue

Designed to give you the ultimate analog sound for your rhythm parts, drumlogue employs all-new analog circuits with extreme depth and richness of sound developed by legendary engineerJunichi Ikeuchi, a member of Korg's analog synthesizer design team who has been responsible for the development of such products as ARP 2600 M, MS-20 mini, ARP Odyssey, etc.. These new analog circuits-Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Low Tom and High Tom-provide a solid foundation for your tracks and will make them stand out with rich harmonics and a distinctive body in the low frequencies.

Combining simplicity and ease of use, the most important parameters for each of these parts are manageable by dedicated knobs on the front panel that can be changed at any time without forcing you to resort to the menu; so you can quickly and intuitively define your sound on the fly. For further sonic exploration, each part has many more parameters accessible through the powerful built-in editing system.

Last but not least, each drumlogue part-analog or digital-has a dedicated volume knob.

The digital flexibility of drumlogue

As a complementary ally to the analog section, drumlogue provides as many as 7 digital parts: 6 sample-based (4 PCM, 2 User Samples) and one synthesis-based (Multi-Engine). The sample-based parts can play any PCM bank preloaded in the instrument, or play your important audio samples in its memory from any computer via USB making it an extremely versatile machine with virtually unlimited sonic possibilities. For starters, the 128 preloaded drum kits will provide you with a wide variety of sounds covering different musical genres so you can easily produce your own tracks. The total memory available in the Korg drumlogue is 32MB.

Multi-Engine and logue SDK for drumlogue

The popular Multi Engine of prologue and minilogue xd is now more powerful than ever. In addition to Variable Phase Modulation (VPM) and Noise generator engines, the Multi Engine features a new User Custom slot capable of reproducing synthesized voices that incredibly extend sonic capabilities like you've never heard before on a drum machine.

Custom Synth for Drumlogue

Drumlogue's synthesized voices are not just static waveforms. You can create custom synthesizers not only to generate sound, but also to implement built-in filters, LFOs, MIDI-controlled polyphony, or other parameters. The only restriction for third-party developers is their creativity (and CPU!). NB: Units developed for prologue, minilogue xd and NTS-1 are not directly compatible with drumlogue.

Exclusive Sinevibes Synth Plugin "Nano"

Korg has collaborated with renowned logueSDK plug-in developer Sinevibes who has produced the brand new Nano synth plug-in available as a factory preset on drumlogue. This plug-in explores the power of the revamped Multi Engine and gives all users a taste of this new platform.

"Nano" is a full-fledged virtual analog synthesizer with a wide range of features and numerous customizable parameters. The synthesizer has two oscillators with optional ring modulation, a 4-pole variable-state filter with soft clipping distortion, built-in EG and multi-waveform LFOs.Leads, basses, percussive sounds or cinematic effects, you decide how to use this incredible sound potential!

The powerful drumlogue Sequencer

drumlogue harnesses all its sonic power in an extremely powerful, flexible and easy-to-use 11-track built-in sequencer. Tired of the same old rhythms? drumlogue's 64-step sequencer makes it easy and intuitive to create rhythmic patterns and complex polyrhythms that elevate the music-making process with innovative features such as probabilities, alternating trigger patterns and micro offsets for each step, groove patterns per track, and more.

The drumlogue is great both in the studio and live. With its Chain mode, creating extended and evolving tracks is simple and clearly shown on the display. In Loop mode you can switch between variations to play the sequence in new and interesting ways. The Motion and Accent recording functions are intuitive and fast, and if you want to experiment on your track the Randomization function is there to help you.

The Effects in drumlogue

drumlogue includes several high-quality effects organized into three categories that can be used simultaneously: Delay, Reverb, and Master. The send metering to the delay and reverb effects is independently adjustable for each part, and multiple return points are available. Master effects allow you to add that finishing touch to your sound; they can be bypassed on a part-by-part basis to allow you to send the effect to specific audio parts. A sidechain bus is also available to master effects that can use it.In addition to the multiple and varied Delay, Reverb and Master effects included, the drumlogue can also load custom third-party Delay / Reverb / Master effects.

Each effect can implement up to 24 parameters, all easily accessible in the well-structured menu.

drumlogue has an audio input, so you can process other instruments through the effects chain to make it an ideal companion for your studio setup.

The connections of the Korg drumlogue

drumlogue has a variety of connections to integrate seamlessly with your rig. The drumlogue's USB-A port allows connectivity with other USB class compliant MIDI devices in order to further extend your control of sounds and parameters. For example, control the volume of each part with nanoKONTROL2's faders or play sounds using the velocity-sensitive pads on the nanoPAD2 adding additional layers of expression and integration.

drumlogue has four individual audio outputs, in addition to the headphone output and L/MONO and R outputs. You can assign any part to any output to expand routing options for external processing or multitrack recording.Korg drumlogue easily synchronizes with your gear via MIDI IN/OUT, SYNC IN/OUTanalog or with a computer-based DAW via USB.

drumlogue SDK

Just as in the prologue and minilogue xd, Korg drumlogue offers an API (Application Programming Interface) that allows anyone to extend the possibilities of the hardware by developing plugins called "Units." Using the drumlogue SDK (Standard Development Kit), you can create custom units of synth, delay, reverb and master effects, then upload them to the drumlogue via a USB connection (mass storage device mode: USB port B).

User Synth for Korg drumlogue

Up to 24 custom Synth Units can be loaded into the Multi-Engine User section. If selected, a custom synthesizer can be played via the sequencer track dedicated to the Multi-Engine, as well as via MIDI. Each synthesizer can have up to 24 custom parameters accessible via the encoders and OLED display; each parameter can also be modulated via the sequencer's motion function.

Since these are true synth voices, developers have complete freedom to add any kind of internal modulation and articulation they like, including the creation of custom polyphonic synthesizers (within the limits of CPU resources). These can only be played polyphonically via MIDI.

User effects for Korg drumlogue

For each type of effect (delay, reverb, master) up to 24 units of costum effects can be loaded into the drumlogue. These custom effects will appear at the end of the effects list. Each custom effect can possess up to 24 parameters accessible via the encoders and OLED display and can be used in the same way as the internal effects without further restrictions.

Loading Custom Synths/Effects

  • Connect the drumlogue's USB Device port to a computer.
  • Turn on the drumlogue while holding down the record button ().
  • A USB mass storage device icon called "drumlogue" will appear on your computer.
