New Master Bus Transformer by RND

Published on 08/10/2023

Transformers have always been at the center of the philosophy of the devices made by Rupert Neve. Rupert Neve Designs custom transformers are fundamental in each of their products.

MBT, with these transformers, offers a wide range of sonic options to shape, enrich and enhance audio sources.

Designed to process mixes, groups, stems or individual tracks, it lets you put the finishing touches on your sound.

The first feature of MBT is a high-pass filter adjustable in frequency from 100 Hz to 15 Hz.

Also available is a 2-band EQ with a 3-octave range, smooth slopes and minimal phase rotation.

The Color Comp optical compressor contributes to further coloring thanks to the Opto cell with its characteristic distortion.

An adjustable high pass filter on the side-chain removes low frequencies from the circuitry that drives the compression, allowing low frequencies to pass through without processing.

The Width section is designed to expand the perception of the stereo panorama without compromising the presence of low frequencies.

MBT's "WIDTH" controls are inspired by the company's Stereo Field Editor (SFE), but have two important differences.

First, the Width control is purely additive, with a wider range for extreme operations.

Secondly, there is a variable high-pass filter between 50 Hz and 800 Hz, which allows you to adjust the width so that the low frequencies remain anchored in the center of the mix, while the mids and highs are expanded to create more space ample.

Introduced nearly twenty years ago, Rupert Neve Designs' Silk technology is much loved by professionals.

Now, with Super Silk on the MBT, you reach a new level of harmonic manipulation thanks to independent controls for Red, Blue, Harmonics and Zener Drive.
