The WA-19 revives a dynamic microphone from the 1960s that combines the typical off-axis attenuation, reduced proximity effect, and rugged metal construction of a dynamic with the clarity and rich detail of a studio-quality condenser.
The WA-19 offers a unique combination of dynamic microphone functionality and typical condenser clarity, reviving one of the most popular models of the 1960s. Featuring a custom, hand-assembled dynamic cardioid humbucking capsule in a rugged metal design, the WA-19 combines the unwanted noise attenuation and reduced proximity effect of a dynamic, but with greater clarity and richer detail in the high range than most studio dynamics. The WA-19 includes a variable high-pass filter that cuts up to 10 dB at 50 Hz, ideal for enhancing tone and adding emphasis to the mid-high frequencies without the phase shift that can occur with preamplifier high-pass filters.
The WA-19 's slim pencil-style body design allows easy mic placement in more delicate studio or live situations when mic overlap is common, such as simultaneous recording of acoustic guitar and vocals, an entire band, or miking a full drum kit. The dynamic humbucking coil enables the mic to provide optimal off-axis attenuation, particularly for mid/low frequencies, with minimal imperceptible noise. In addition, the WA-19 's body structure allows for reduced proximity effect, eliminating the risk of excess low frequencies associated with placing the microphone close to particular sources with greater sound output.
Available in two versions: Nickel and Black.
